Is Affiliate Marketing the Right Move For You?

Thousands, if not millions, of online webmasters and marketers are turning to affiliate marketing to earn extra money from the web. Affiliate marketing offers the perfect way for the ordinary person to cash in on the billions of sales made online each year.

But is Affiliate Marketing right for you?

Is it something that you should investigate and pursue further if you truly want to monetize your site or content? As a way of an answer and to get you thinking about affiliate marketing; I would like to offer some of my own experiences as a full-time online affiliate marketer. I would also like to give you some marketing tips and a few pit-falls you should try to avoid.

Truth be told, I didn?t plan to become an affiliate marketer. It just happened, mostly by accident, as I was struggling to promote my first site on Internet marketing some 10 years ago now. My original plan was to re-sell some software products with hopes of making my fortune on this new thing called the Internet.

Well, to make a long story short, most things don?t quite turn out as we originally plan. Instead of selling my own products, I became much more interested in studying ?how to market online? and examining ?how marketing systems worked? than actually selling my own stuff. I was much more fascinated in the ?nuts & bolts? or ?marketing tools? behind these online marketing systems than earning a few pennies.

I was particularly captivated by a new search engine called Google. Yes, there are many marketers around who have been studying Google since it first started. And I believe it was Google and its AdSense Program in particular that sort of legitimized the ?whole idea of making money online? for me. I turned my attention to other ways of monetizing my sites, especially with affiliate programs. And the rest as they say is history?

But enough about me, what about you?

Do you have a website? Are you interested in earning extra revenue from your site? Are you trying to earn a full-time income online? More importantly:

Is Affiliate Marketing Right for you?

First, you have to realize Affiliate Marketing is when you promote and sell affiliate products from your site or sites. Actually, selling is not quite the right word because you DON?T actually sell anything from your site. You merely refer or send customers/interested buyers to the affiliate sites you?re promoting via your affiliate links.

Believe me, sometimes this concept is very hard to explain to close family and friends. But what do you sell online? You don?t have anything to sell? How can you make money?

To repeat, with affiliate marketing you don?t sell anything directly online? you send clients and customers to online companies or merchants where they buy stuff and since they?re coming from your site?s affiliate links you get credit for the sale.

I don?t directly sell Dell Computers on my sites, I merely send prospective customers to Dell where they can buy Dell products and since they came from my affiliate links I get credit, plus a small commission in return if they buy something. Same goes for Amazon or hundreds of the other companies and products I promote with my sites.

Now Affiliate Marketing Fits Me to a Tee! Here?s why?

You don?t handle any sales transactions

You don?t handle any delivery of products

You don?t have to deal with customer complaints or run customer support

You don?t have to manage employees or operate a business

You don?t need an office, stock, or any physical products

With Affiliate Marketing all the selling and business operations are done by the company you?re promoting. This saves you from a lot of head-aches and problems that arise from running your own company or developing your own products. It?s all done for you.

Furthermore, online Affiliate Marketing does have some great advantages:

Your sites and affiliate links are working for you 24/7, 365 days of the year. You earn sales/commissions while you?re sleeping, eating, watching TV or doing anything we humans do!

You earn money even when you?re on Vacation. This happened to me last year when I went to Florida to see Bruce Springsteen in concert. Unfortunately, a band member died so I didn?t get to see Springsteen but I did make more than enough online to pay for my whole trip WHILE I was in Orlando. It was also the first time, I didn?t have access to my computer or sites for more than a few days, but they still made me money.

Once you get your affiliate links set-up, they will continue to earn you revenue automatically. All your online marketing can be automated and run from your home office or from anywhere you choose.

Keep in mind, your content and sites keep building and growing. Work you did writing that great article two years ago is still bringing in affiliate sales today.

Plus, with Affiliate Marketing, all your marketing materials (banners, sales copy, videos, ads, links?) are all provided for you by the Affiliate Network or Company.

There?s little stress with affiliate marketing mainly because you?re your own boss and you can work at home. No office politics or all that foolishness. No commuting. In addition, there is very little capital investment, for a few hundred dollars or much less, you can have a site up and running on the web.

However, Affiliate Marketing does have some real disadvantages:

You can often earn much more if you develop and sell your own products. You?re not really getting the highest return on your site?s content by selling other people?s stuff. The profit margin can be much, much higher if you sell your own products.

There is also the issue of lost commissions and theft of sales, you can never be sure you?re getting credit for all your traffic and referrals. In most cases you?re not.

Many times there?s stiff competition from other affiliates selling the same stuff and using the same marketing materials? although many top affiliates create their own marketing materials so they stand out in a crowded marketplace.

Since I am a full-time online affiliate marketer the benefits far outweighs the few downers associated with this great lifestyle. Mainly because it is just that: a lifestyle rather than a job. I never think of it as a job or working. Maybe, that?s because I am my own master, I can work from home and set my own hours. I can take time off, I can go on vacations or I can live anywhere in the world where there?s Internet Access and these days that?s just about anywhere. The sense of freedom is truly intoxicating to say the least.

If you do find Affiliate Marketing is something that you would like to pursue, even part-time if not full-time, here are some of my best tips for increasing your affiliate income and sales:

Focus your marketing efforts and attention on programs and products which give you recurring or residual income. Make one sale and get paid for years to come.

Develop your own sites and marketing materials so that you stand out from the other affiliate marketers. Create your own unique selling position even if you?re not technically selling the products. Give extra bonuses if they buy from your links or site.

Build your own list of customers who are interested in the products you?re promoting. Grow your own list, as well as that of the affiliate company you?re promoting. You will always have these subscribers and you can promote other similar products to them.

Concentrate on targeting ?long tail keywords? with your content and sites; these multi-worded keyword phrases are easy to rank high for and usually have better conversion rates.

Cloak your affiliate links to cut down on affiliate theft. For example, ClickBank has a simple HTML code that will hide your link. Use it.

Internet users and especially shoppers want simple helpful information to make their buying decisions easier. Provide them with valuable information they can use in their task and they will reward you with a sale. Also giving away coupons and online discounts will increase your sales and commissions.

Use the major affiliate networks like Commission Junction, LinkShare, ClickBank, Amazon, Shareasale? I have found these networks very simple to use and very effective. Plus, their checks never bounce!

Keep a close eye on your monthly sales, with many of the companies if you go over $25,000 or $50,000 in sales for the month, you get extra bonus incentives. I have found these can dramatically increase your monthly income so watch your sales stats closely.

If you do find that Affiliate Marketing is right for you, chances are almost 100% certain that you will never regret it. Affiliate marketing offers one of the least stressful ways of earning a living on the planet and the lifestyle can?t be beat. Anyone can change their lives with affiliate marketing. I did and you can too!

SARATOGA SPRINGS ? The city-owned parking lot on Broadway known as the Lillian?s lot isn?t expected to be city-owned much longer.

Mayor Scott Johnson said he expects the final sale of the lot to Sonny Bonacio to go through within the next 30 days.

The $750,000 sale was negotiated in 2007 and was all but completed in 2009, but Bonacio held off on finalizing the sale until plans for the building he proposed locating there were approved by the city?s land-use boards.

The Planning Board and Design Review Commission have both already approved the building plans.

Johnson said it was important for the sale to be delayed until after the parking garage was completed on Woodlawn Avenue, particularly since the parking lots on which the parking garage was built were already being closed for the construction, temporarily eliminating much-needed downtown parking.

?We didn?t want to lose that lot plus the lots on Woodlawn Avenue,? he said.

Johnson said construction of a new building will fill a hole along Broadway that many people in the city probably don?t even notice anymore ? a hole that was created when the F.W. Woolworth building burned down in 1957.

?I think when people see that building, sometime in the not-too-distant future they won?t even remember it was a parking lot,? Johnson said.

Bonacio did not return requests for comment.

Proceeds from the sale of the lot are earmarked to go toward the cost of constructing the now-finished $4.7 million Woodlawn Avenue parking lot. Continued...

If the Planning Board approves, the bottom floor of the building will have its 13,500 square feet of retail space divided into numerous shops. Alleyways on either side of the building will be well-lit and house some of the entrances to the storefronts.

The second story of the building is proposed with office space and the top two floors are designed to have 16 apartments. The structure will rise 1-1/2 stories over the existing Cantina and Lillian?s restaurants.

Onward to Romney's big night, a speech to millions

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? Republican Mitt Romney is stepping up for the most important speech of his life, to an audience of millions, after a rousing warm-up from a running mate who vowed the days of dodging painful budget choices will end if voters toss President Barack Obama from office.

Having grasped the nomination on his second try, after years spent cultivating this moment, Romney will use his speech Thursday night to introduce himself to a large portion of voters and claw for advantage in a race that could scarcely be any closer.

There was no shortage of advice for Romney from armchair speechwriters on all sides.

Jeb Bush, the brother and son of former presidents, said it was critical for the normally reserved GOP nominee to connect with people on an emotional level ? even if he's never going to be "a new-age kind of guy."

"Where it matters is connecting with other people's concerns," Bush said in a round of morning talk show interviews. Only then, he said, will be voters be ready to hear the candidate's case.

As part of his introduction, Romney appeared prepared to discuss his Mormon faith in more direct terms than usual, a direction signaled by running mate Paul Ryan on Wednesday night in several allusions to the duo's differing religions but "same moral creed."

The Wisconsin congressman, a deficit hawk who's become the party's darling since joining the ticket, offered a prime-time testimonial setting up Romney's turn on the stage in the Republican National Convention's finale.

The Obama campaign was quick to pick apart Ryan's address, releasing a new web video with its own fact-check of what it said were inaccuracies in the congressman's criticisms of the president, and branding the GOP ticket wrong for the middle class. In the warm-up for Romney's speech, the Democrats also released a second web video highlighting past criticisms of Romney on his record as Massachusetts governor and his budget priorities.

After a two-day campaign tour through college towns, the president himself was staying out of the spotlight Thursday, ceding center stage to Romney.

But in an interview with Time magazine released Thursday, Obama said he was hopeful for a more productive second term if re-elected, because "the American people will have made a decision. And, hopefully, that will impact how Republicans think about these problems."

"My expectation is that there will be some popping of the blister after this election, because it will have been such a stark choice," Obama said.

The president added that he needs to do a better job of communicating his goals to the American people ? both during the campaign and what he hopes will be a future inaugural address and more State of the Union speeches. The interview was conducted last week.

If history is a guide, viewership of Romney's speech ? and Obama's address to his Democratic convention next week ? will be surpassed only by the audience for their coming debates.

The Republican convention's most rah-rah moments were unfolding as Hurricane Isaac, down to a tropical storm, inflicted floodwaters and misery in rural stretches of nearby Gulf states. The slowly unfolding calamity went unmentioned by most key speakers Wednesday night, although a few asked for Red Cross donations to the victims and offered prayers. The GOP had cut the convention's opening day in fear Isaac would strike Tampa, which was spared.

Not that Obama set politicking aside for the week, either, even as he tended to emergency management. Locked in an unpredictable race that shows no clear advantage for either man, Obama on Wednesday implored young people in a crowd of 7,500 in Charlottesville, Va., home to the University of Virginia, to register, vote and make sure their friends do as well. "I need you," he said. "America needs you to close the gap between what is and what might be."

Ryan, 42, came on board the campaign for the White House with a reputation in Washington for taking on the sacred cows in government spending, Medicare prime among them, and he's generated plenty of excitement among conservatives who have never been fully convinced that Romney is one of them. "I think he's a rock star for the Republicans," Allie Burgin, a delegate from Wynnewood, Okla., said before the speech. And that's how he was received on the stage.

"The present administration has made its choices," Ryan said, "and Mitt Romney and I have made ours. Before the math and the momentum overwhelm us all, we are going to solve this nation's economic problems. And I'm going to level with you: We don't have much time."

He was particularly cutting in his indictment of the president, even in a convention loaded with anti-Obama rhetoric. "Fear and division are all they've got left," he said. "It all started off with stirring speeches, Greek columns, the thrill of something new. Now all that's left is a presidency adrift, surviving on slogans that already seem tired, grasping at a moment that has already passed."

Ryan misrepresented Obama's record at times ? and seemed to forget his own.

He said sharply that "the biggest, coldest power play of all in Obamacare came at the expense of the elderly. ... So they just took it all away from Medicare. Seven hundred and sixteen billion dollars, funneled out of Medicare by President Obama."

In fact, Ryan himself incorporated the same cuts into budgets he steered through the House in the past two years as chairman of its Budget Committee, using the money for deficit reduction. The cuts do not affect Medicare recipients directly, but rather reduce payments to hospitals, health insurance plans and other service providers.

Moreover, Ryan's own plan to remake Medicare would squeeze the program's spending even more than the changes Obama made.

Ryan promised, "We will not duck the tough issues; we will lead." But Romney has yet to flesh out those fiscal choices.

He's promised big increases in military spending and the restoration of more than $700 billion in Medicare cuts, along with lower taxes, without detailing how he would make good on his pledge to cut $500 billion a year from the federal budget. That goal is only realistic if budget cutters dive into the massive entitlements of Social Security and Medicare and if Congress can be persuaded to slice deeply into areas of spending such as health research, transportation, homeland security and aid to the poor.

In a letter sent Thursday morning to potential Democratic donors, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said the Ryan speech "represents a huge bet by the Romney campaign ? they've decided that facts, truth and reality will not be a brake on their campaign message."

Romney spokesman Kevin Madden said days earlier that the nominee would discuss his Mormon religion in his convention address as part of "what's informed his values." Ryan, a Roman Catholic, took up the matter conspicuously, and no doubt as part of the convention's carefully crafted message.

"Mitt and I also go to different churches," he said. "But in any church, the best kind of preaching is done by example. And I've been watching that example. The man who will accept your nomination tomorrow is prayerful and faithful and honorable. Not only a defender of marriage, he offers an example of marriage at its best. Not only a fine businessman, he's a fine man, worthy of leading this optimistic and good-hearted country."

And again: "Our different faiths come together in the same moral creed. We believe that in every life there is goodness; for every person, there is hope. Each one of us was made for a reason, bearing the image and likeness of the Lord of Life."

Obama, asked in the Time interview what he admired about Romney, said the GOP nominee "seems to walk the walk and not just be talking the talk when it comes to his participation in his church."

SEAL's book shows bin Laden raid up close

WASHINGTON (AP) ? A Navy SEAL's firsthand account of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden pulls back the veil on the secret operations conducted almost nightly by elite American forces against terrorist suspects.

Former SEAL Matt Bissonnette's account contradicted in key details the account of the raid presented by administration officials in the days after the May 2011 raid in Abbotabad, Pakistan, that killed the al-Qaida leader, and raised questions about whether the SEALs followed to the letter the order to use deadly force only if they deemed him a threat.

Bissonnette wrote that the SEALs spotted bin Laden at the top of a darkened hallway and shot him in the head even though they could not tell whether he was armed. Administration officials have described the SEALs shooting bin Laden only after he ducked back into a bedroom because they assumed he might be reaching for a weapon.

Military experts said Wednesday that if Bissonnette's recollection is accurate, the SEALS made the right call to open fire on the terrorist mastermind who had plenty of time to reach for a weapon or explosives as they made their way up to the third level of the house where he hid.

Bissonnette wrote the book, "No Easy Day," under the pseudonym Mark Owen as one of the men in the room when they killed bin Laden. The book is to be published next week by Penguin Group (USA)'s Dutton imprint. The Associated Press purchased a copy Tuesday.

For years, the primary weapon in the war on terror has been unmanned drones firing missiles from the sky. But the Bissonnette book reveals a more bloody war waged by special operators, one the public almost never gets to see close up.

The book offers intimate details of a special operations mission. The most memorable scenes are also the most human moments. Bissonnette describes one of the SEALs dressing the wounds of a woman who was shot when she lunged toward the raiders. In another scene, a terrified mother clutches her child, and a young girl identifies the dead man to the SEALs as Osama bin Laden, seemingly unaware of the significance of those words.

In that regard, the bin Laden raid seems destined to become an anachronism. Nearly every top al-Qaida figure killed by the United States since the 9/11 attacks has died in a remote-controlled strike by unmanned drone aircraft ? their deaths seen back in Washington via high-definition video. An estimated 80 top terrorist leaders have been killed in places like Pakistan and Yemen, according to The Long War Journal.com, which tracks such airborne strikes.

Special operations troops often conduct raids similar to the bin Laden strike a dozen times a night in Afghanistan, and previously in Iraq, killing thousands of mostly mid- and lower-level terrorists. It's all part of a war on terror that is winding down and giving way to the drone war outside traditional war zones, given the scheduled drawdown of most U.S. troops in Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

"No Easy Day" shows how routine such operations have become. But the public rarely hears about them. This raid to capture bin Laden, though, was historic.

The SEALS, according to Bissonnette's description, were prepared as they had been in other raids for a gunfight in close quarters, which likely would last only a few seconds, with no margin for error. By the time the SEALs reached the top floor of bin Laden's compound, roughly 15 minutes had passed, giving the terror leader adequate time to strap on a suicide vest or get a gun, he said.

Bissonnette says he was behind the point man going up the stairs in the pitch black hallway. Near the top, he said, he heard two silenced shots fired by the first SEAL into the hallway. He wrote that the SEAL on point had seen a man peeking out of a door on the right side of the hallway, but Bissonnette could not tell from his vantage point whether the bullets hit the target.

The author writes that the man ducked back into his bedroom and the SEALs followed, only to find him crumpled on the floor in a pool of blood with a hole visible on the right side of his head and two women wailing over his body.

Bissonnette says the point man pulled the two women out of the way and shoved them into a corner. He and the other SEALs trained their guns' laser sights on bin Laden's still-twitching body, shooting him several times until he lay motionless.

Once they wiped the blood off his face, they were convinced it was bin Laden.

The SEALs later found two weapons stored by the doorway, untouched, the author said.

National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor late Tuesday would not comment on the apparent contradiction between the administration's account and the book's version.

Bissonnette writes that during a pre-raid briefing, an administration lawyer told them that they were not on an assassination mission. According to Bissonnette, the lawyer said if bin Laden did not pose a threat, they should detain him.

"If they didn't feel like there was a threat, they would have captured him," co-author Kevin Maurer told the AP on Wednesday. "But from when they first hit the ground, all the way until they got to the third deck, they had encountered armed men, which made the use of force essential," said Maurer, a former AP reporter.

A former deputy judge advocate general for the Air Force defended the decision to shoot the man the SEALs saw in the hallway.

"In a confined space like that where it is clear that there are hostiles, the SEALs need to take reasonable steps to ensure their safety and accomplish the mission," said the former JAG, retired Maj. Gen. Charlie Dunlap, who now teaches at Duke University law school.

Bissonnette writes that none of the SEALs were fans of President Barack Obama and knew that his administration would take credit for ordering the raid. One of the SEALs said after the mission that they had just gotten Obama re-elected by carrying out the raid. But he says they respected him as commander in chief and for giving the operation the go-ahead.

In an interview scheduled to air Sunday on CBS' "60 Minutes," Bissonnette said the book was "not political whatsoever" and not timed to influence the upcoming national elections. He said it was to commemorate the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks and credit those whose work made the mission to get bin Laden a success.

"My worry from the beginning is, you know, it's a political season. This book is not political whatsoever. It doesn't bad-mouth either party, and we specifically chose Sept. 11 to keep it out of the politics. If these ? crazies on either side of the aisle want to make it political, then shame on them."

CBS said Bissonnette was disguised and his voice altered for the interview. The network used only his pseudonym and not his name.

The Pentagon and the CIA, which commanded the mission, are examining the manuscript for possible disclosure of classified information, and could take legal action against Bissonnette.

In a statement provided to the AP, the SEAL author says he did "not disclose confidential or sensitive information that would compromise national security in any way."

The book does include information not previously reported about specific CIA officers' involvement in the raid.

Bissonnette's real name was first revealed by Fox News and confirmed to the AP.

Jihadists on al-Qaida websites have posted purported photos of the author, calling for his murder.

How Secure Is the Cloud, Really?

Cloud security skeptics were given yet another reason to doubt the fortitude of online storage when the strange tale of Mat Honan emerged earlier this month. Through the clever use of social engineering, a hacker was able to wreak havoc on the Wired journalist's digital life.

FASHION DECISION

At first, Ann Romney didn't want anyone ? her husband included ? to know what color she would wear onstage for her Tuesday speech, the national debut for a potential new first lady.

"It was going to be like my wedding night," she told reporters Tuesday morning as she and her husband flew from their home in Massachusetts to Tampa for the big night.

The secrecy didn't last. There was too much debate about her look for such a big moment, with even her husband's top strategist ? a notoriously casual dresser ? weighing in on what she should do. "Stuart Stevens, who wears his shirts inside out, is advising me on what dress I should wear tonight," she joked on the plane ride.

In the end, she went with a knee-length bright red belted dress designed by Oscar de la Renta, a favorite of former first ladies.

What helped her decide? "Mitt voted for it," her spokeswoman said.

Air China first-half profit plunges 77 percent

HONG KONG (AP) ? Air China Ltd. has become the latest major Chinese company to report a steep drop in first-half profit, as income plunged 77 percent because of the slowing economy, heightened competition and rising jet fuel costs.

The carrier, one of China's three-state owned airlines, joins a number of other big Chinese companies, from oil companies to banks, that have been reporting unexpectedly sharp drops in profit.

The dismal reports, which follow a raft of profit warnings earlier this year from the airlines and other companies, add to pressure on Beijing to reverse a painful slump in the world's second-biggest economy.

Beijing-based Air China said late Tuesday that net income in the first six months of the year fell to 945 million yuan ($149 million) or 0.08 yuan (1.2 US cents) per share. That's down sharply from 4.3 billion yuan or 0.33 yuan per share in 2011.

Revenue climbed 4 percent to 45.3 billion yuan.

Along with the global economic slump and higher fuel prices, the company said the aviation industry came under "great pressure" from weakening demand for air travel, escalating costs and intense competition.

"In the second half of the year, we foresee that the operating environment for the global aviation industry will remain both challenging and complex," Air China said.

The cost of jet fuel, the airline's single biggest expense, was 10 percent higher than the year before. Other costs such as wages and catering also rose.

Air China also suffered 339 million yuan in foreign exchange losses because of weakness in the yuan, China's currency. A year ago, the airline gained 1.5 billion yuan because of the currency's strength.

China's economic growth fell to a three-year low of 7.6 percent in the second quarter and forecasters say the slowdown might have bottomed out but the timing and strength of a rebound are uncertain.

The carrier's results were similar to those announced the day before by China Southern Airlines, which posted an 85 percent drop in profit. A third major airline, China Eastern, is scheduled to report earnings Thursday.

The Ouya Games Console | RoflTime

August 28, 2012 Entertainment, Games

Another Kickstarter success story is the Ouya games console. This inexpensive, little open-source machine raised more than nine times the developer?s initial target bringing in close to $8.6 Million Dollars; also making it the second highest grossing project on the site. Backers who donated $95 will receive a free Ouya console that is projected to be delivered sometime in March, 2013.

The Ouya Games Console

People are getting so excited about Ouya because it is open source. That means games can be downloaded for free, developers will be given access to the console?s source code and money can be made through in-app purchases and subscription based models ? so you only have to pay if you?re looking for vanity items or on-going content. Gamers will even be given easy access to the machines hardware where they can make modifications to their heart?s desire and all of this in a minute little package.

When it finally ships the Ouya will be no larger than a Rubik?s Cube, meaning you can easily sling it in a bag and take it wherever you go. It has space for up to four controllers and will output graphics at 1080p using a modified NVIDIA ULP GeForce GPU. The operating system is an Android 4.0, more commonly known as Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Ouya Games Console

This mixture of software and hardware is typically found in modern tablets and smartphones and for that reason you should expect graphics to be within the same ballpark. They certainly won?t be as powerful as the current generation of consoles. That said, if you take a look at the Wii, clever design and enjoyable gameplay will always overcome any graphical limitation. You?ve just got to decide whether you trust the developers to do so.

Perhaps one way to overcome its limitations is with the cloud gaming service OnLive which will be available from launch. For those of you familiar OnLive you?ll know it lets you stream AAA games on machines that don?t have the processing power to handle the demand.

The Ouya will also support the open-source media portal XBMC, and many people are expecting there to be support for TV and movie streaming services like Netflix. So whilst the Ouya is being touted as a gaming console it?s safe to say there will be a large number of media services that will make it a lot more versatile than just a games console.

The Ouya Games Console

With over 63, 400 backers we can assume the Ouya will find its self a little niche. For 70 odd pounds it?s a completely inexpensive games console that will double up as a media portal and web browser, streaming services like BBC iPlayer. And of course all the Android apps that are already available can be ported over.
All in all, it?s difficult to say whether the Ouya will be any good. The open source nature of the thing is certainly alluring, but then again, isn?t it just the innards of a mobile phone stuck into a box. I guess we?ll find out in time.

If you?re still not sold on the Ouya yet, and still have an Xbox 360 or PS3, then check out?Grainger Games?for all the lastest games. Take a look at?this?site where you can get computer games characters and logos onto t-shirts.

Tips manman.: Self Improvement Tips

After years of study in the self improvement arena, I have found the following strategies to be invaluable. Any chance I can give back to others that have that same thirst to better themselves, I consider it a privilege knowing that I was once in the exact same place.

The following self improvement tips will aid you in your efforts to begin your personal development endeavours. You will find yourself achieving new levels of fulfillment by incorporating them into your daily life. If personal development and growth interests you, there is a good chance you are constantly looking for reliable techniques that will stimulate your progression. Any tactics that can kickstart your personal growth and show you fast results would be fondly looked upon.

1.Expect to Achieve

While many think that the majority of people who are successful in the world are smarter than they are, that simply is not the case. The real secret here is to expect to win before it has ever happened. I can?t stress enough how important this is. Your mindset has a hugely powerful effect on whether or not you will attain your dreams and goals.

Note that I didn?t say you need knowledge to win, because the fact of the matter is having a bold and determined expectancy goes a lot further than actually having the knowledge. The knowledge will come with conviction and persistence.

2.Keep a Daily Journal

You will be hardpressed to find an ultra successful person who doesn?t adopt a personal daily journal. We can?t keep track of everything that passes through our minds and this is when a journal comes in extremely handy. Whenever something strikes you as something you would like to do, accomplish or feel passionate about, get in the habit of writing it down. It will give you a sense of self-awareness and will skyrocket your confidence in yourself.

3.Meditation

Known to be a fabulous stress reliever not to mention the other health benefits like aiding in digestion and even slowing your heart rate, this is one of the most overlooked of the techniques even though it could very well be one of the most important. It drastically helps in avoiding worries and anxiety because it clears your mind of all the negative thoughts useless thoughts that we all feel from time to time. Your sleep will be more restful and it will help you make the most of the other techniques shared here.

4.Write Action Plans & Specific Goals

The simple act of putting pen to paper has a dramatic effect on clarifying your goals and aids with the expectancy I talked about earlier. This habit of writing down goals is mandatory if you want to actually achieve those goals. Dreaming is one thing, doing is quite another. All of these written goals should lead you to your ultimate long term goal and perfect life.

5.Daily Affirmations
Getting in the habit of reading aloud positive affirmations each and every day will lierally change your character, your personality and ultimately change the actions you take every day of your life. I have found that reading these out loud when I get up in the morning and before I go to bed at night to work very well. You can?t help but change your inner self by doing this religiously every day.

6.Be Well Rounded
All areas of your life are affected by all other areas of your life. By that I mean, if you have bad relationships for example, your finances and even your health will suffer also. New on video: 'Battleship,' 'The Pirates! Band of Misfits,' 'Think Like a ...

?The Pirates! Band of Misfits?

What is it? The charmingly goofy animated feature showcases characters known only as the Pirate Captain, the Pirate With Gout, the Albino Pirate, etc. The day-to-day business of pirating ? they?re not so good at. Adapted by Gideon Defoe from his series of children?s books, ?The Pirates!? is built around the premise of a reality-TV-style contest between the Pirate Captain and three other blackguards: Black Bellamy, Cutlass Liz and Peg Leg Hastings. In his search for ships filled with booty, the Pirate Captain accidentally sacks the HMS Beagle, the research ship of Charles Darwin (voiced by David Tennant), leading to a more landlocked, and delightfully ludicrous, adventure. Like many Aardman Animations films, this one is awash with silliness. It has enough humor to keep Mom and Dad from falling asleep. As with Aardman?s ?Wallace and Gromit? films, there?s a sardonic animal sidekick. Perhaps, by the second ?Pirates!? film, there will be a character as beloved as Gromit. In the meantime, ?The Pirates!? has made a buoyant maiden voyage. Rated PG for mild cartoon action and some rude humor Time: 1:28 We gave the film: *?*? Extras: Filmmakers? commentary, ?So You Want to Be a Pirate!? mini-movie and ?Mr. Bobo?s Flash Card Challenge.? Also, on Blu-ray: ?Pirate Disguise Dress-Up? game, making-of featurette, ?Creating the Bath Chase Sequence? featurette, two Peter Lord short films?Battleship? What is it? Hasbro?s venerable game of naval strategy, in which players use a combination of guesswork and logic to deduce the location of their opponents? ships, isn?t exactly known for its thrill-a-minute narrative complexity. Fear not. ?Battleship? is an invigorating blast of cinematic adrenaline. Deftly directed by Peter Berg, from a script by brothers Eric and Jon Hoeber that adds muscle, sinew and heart to the skeletal source material, the resulting film is an enormously entertaining amusement-park ride. Yes, it?s a bit preposterous, not to mention loud. But it?s also brisk and viscerally thrilling, with a genuine surprise or two ? including a plot twist that manages to brilliantly incorporate the game?s essential DNA of blindly shooting at invisible targets. It?s the action that propels this fleet film forward. Like its naval namesake, ?Battleship? may be bulky, long and overblown, but when it gets in the water it?s as nimble as a speedboat. Sure, it may be beset by a few cliches, but it manages to outmaneuver them all in the end. Rated PG-13 for action violence, mayhem and some obscenity Time: 2:12 We gave the film: *? Extras: Featurettes ?Preparing for Battle,? ?All Hands on Deck: The Cast? and ?Engage in Battle.? Also, on Blu-ray: alternate ending pre-visualization and five featurettes, including a short on visual effects, a behind-the-scenes with director Peter Berg, ?USS Missouri VIP Tour? and ?Alien Tech 3D Model Turntable Explosions? ?Think Like a Man? What is it? An all-star revue of some of the most physically stunning actors in Hollywood, ?Think Like a Man? is a pleasure if only on a purely sensory level. The nine main characters might be archetypes-bordering-on-stereotypes, but all manage to resemble authentic human beings, thanks to the terrific actors who play them, including Taraji P. Henson, Meagan Good, Regina Hall and Gabrielle Union. Each of these gorgeous, high-achieving, self-aware women faces a specific dating problem for which Steve Harvey?s relationship book has just the right advice. That advice ? with its 90-day rules before having sex and warnings against being a ?chirp-chirp? girl ? doesn?t break any ground. Forget hackneyed cliches about Players and Dreamers and the scheming women who seek to domesticate them. Focus on the pleasures of watching a group of gifted actors spar and seduce each other with genuine warmth, and ?Think Like a Man? just might go straight to your head. Rated PG-13 for sexual content, some crude humor and brief drug use Time: 2:02 We gave the film: *?*?*? Extras: deleted scenes, blooper reel. Also, on Blu-ray: four behind-the-scenes featurettes? The Lucky One? What is it? Can a drama be too restrained? ?The Lucky One,? adapted from a Nicholas Sparks novel, features Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling in a sudsy romantic melodrama that lavishes good taste and sunsets on a story that ? devoid of genuine tension, conflict or combustible chemistry between its two stars ? just prettily sits there. Efron plays Logan Thibault, who as a Marine in Iraq happens upon a photograph of a beautiful blonde and proceeds to see the picture as a talisman that saves his life. When he returns to the United States, he tracks down the girl, who turns out to be a single mother named Beth (Schilling), and begins working in the dog kennel she runs with her grandmother, played with vinegary acumen by Blythe Danner. Most of ?The Lucky One? consists of proving how sensitive Logan is (he reads Melville and plays the piano with a suitably faraway look) and how put-upon Beth is as she clatters around her grandmother?s impeccably distressed cottage and affects Veronica Lake-esque bangs-in-the-eye sultriness. Rated PG-13 for mild cartoon action and some rude humor Time: 1:41 We gave the film: *?*? Extras: ?Zac and Taylor?s Amazing Chemistry? featurette
